Cornerstone Barristers is a leading public law set with offices in London, Cardiff and Birmingham. With a long and distinguished history, they’re recognised for their high-quality service, transparency and accessibility.
Project goals
The project had three core objectives:
- Refresh and modernise the website design and messaging, with a distinctive style that reflects the chambers’ personality
- Migrate from an outdated content management system to WordPress, improving site administration in the process
- Ensure wide stakeholder input, including members and clients, to guide decisions
Solutions
The new website leaves behind the generic cityscapes of its predecessor. Instead, it expresses chambers’ individuality with a more dynamic, engaging design. A bespoke animation sets the tone immediately – giving a first impression that’s both confident and distinctive.
Photography
Cornerstone was especially keen to showcase its members professionally and authentically. We recommended photographer Anna Batchelor, who captured new portraits and produced composite group images used throughout the site. To help everyone feel their best, we arranged hair and make-up services on the day of the shoot.
Stakeholder consultation
Cornerstone wanted to involve all members of chambers and hear from clients too. We ran a multi-layered consultation process: bespoke questionnaires for different stakeholder groups, presentations at full chambers meetings, and structured feedback synthesis to inform the design and messaging.
Imagery
Stock imagery was carefully curated and customised – edited with Cornerstone’s brand colours to ensure it felt impactful and cohesive with the overall design.

A distinctive, user-friendly website
We created a confident, modern site that reflects Cornerstone’s individuality while maintaining clarity and professionalism. The design balances personality with usability, ensuring the chambers’ values – accessibility, transparency and excellence – are clearly communicated.
Cornerstone produces a wealth of content across its specialist areas, so we built flexible templates and smart filters to help users quickly find relevant people, news, insights and events. The result is a site that’s as practical as it is professional.
WebAwards winner
In September 2023, the Square Eye and Cornerstone Barristers teams were delighted to win the Outstanding Legal Website award at the 2023 WebAwards for their work on the site.
Advanced cross-referencing links people to practice areas, events to news, and barristers to publications. Sidebar tabs on profile pages help visitors explore related content without losing their place.
Since launch
We work regularly with Cornerstone to maintain and extend their website, adding new features like the Cornerstone Climate section and a custom page builder interface which lets the marketing team create complex landing pages.
