Red Lion Chambers is a Tier 1 criminal set with several highly ranked KCs; they have won multiple awards and are highly-regarded nationally and internationally.
Their previous website was over seven years old and had become a victim of gradual expansion and organic changes. It had become cluttered, unwieldy and hard to use.
Goals
The main priorities for the project were:
- A fresh, modern design to suit a set of Red Lion’s reputation, and celebrate their move to new premises;
- Thoughtful content architecture and easy-to-use navigation; including improved cross-referencing between barristers, practice areas, news, events and other kinds of content;
- Additional features for their barrister & associate profiles, to aid their clients’ experience of using the website.
Solutions
We redesigned their website, making it cleaner and less cluttered, and simplifying the navigation to aid user journeys around the site.
We made sure that the site layouts performed well across all device types, ensuring that call-to-action buttons and functionality were visible and usable on even the smallest screens.
Barrister profiles, archives & related content
We implemented dynamic downloadable PDFs of barrister profiles; a custom PDF builder system so that visitors can choose which sections are included; and CMS-controlled vCards with contact details.
Barrister, news & publication archives use filtering by practice area, barrister or other settings to help users find what they’re looking for.
Easy tagging of relationships between barristers, practice areas, news, cases, events and publications is used to generate links between different parts of the website, team lists, and lists of related content on the member profiles.
Intranet
We’ve constructed a custom Intranet for Red Lion Chambers to share internal policies, documents, forms, contact details and much more. It’s fully integrated with the website so content can be shared between the two if needed.
